Penang Hill

@ Gurney Paragon

@ Penang Hill

Emeryn put up a nite at Por Por's place on Fri nite as mummy planned to stay out late. Mummy picked Emeryn the next morning at 8.30am and we headed to Old Town @ Egate for breakfast. As soon as we were seated, Emeryn immediately grabbed the food menu and flipped through. She had home-cooked porridge at Por Por's place early in the morning, thus she did not order anything while at Old Town. She helped mummy with the order chit. Emeryn shared half of mummy's breakfast portion but refused to order anything earlier.

Mummy: I ordered them just now and you should order for yourself if you still want to eat.

Emeryn: Har, you must have forgotten that I was the one who wrote on the order chit.

After our quick breakfast, we left for Art Class while mummy went home for an hour nap before picking Emeryn after the class. We spent the rest of the afternoon at home and Emeryn took her nap in the afternoon. We headed out for dinner at about 6.30pm at GoodAll Cafe. We spotted a new bakery along the parking area and we went in to check it out. Emeryn asked for a 3-tier jelly and a Hello Kitty cake. Mummy brought her the jelly and promised to come back after dinner for the cake. Emeryn requested for char koay teow and she finished 80% of it while mummy had her favourite meal, tom yam noodle. We went back to the bakery after our meal as promised but to Emeryn's dismay, the cake she wanted was gone. She was upset and later compromised on selecting other cake. We went to Gurney Paragon and that was our 1st time there. We sat at the al-fresco area and enjoyed the live band. The kids enjoyed the lighted water sprouting from beneath the floor animated with colorful lighting. Before going home, Emeryn requested for a drink and we choose Pacific Coffee, also our first time trying it. We left at about 10pm but Emeryn refused to leave. We were stuck in a jam right outside of the exit from the car park.

The next morning we decided to explore the newly restored Penang Hill. The train was newly upgraded, completely concealed and air conditioned. It was more than 10years since mummy last visited Penang Hill while it was Emeryn's first time there. The return ticket for the cable car only cost us RM12 (1 adult and 1 child) using our MyKad. We felt a sense of coldness upon getting off the cable car at the peak but very soon the coldness dies off. Emeryn did a henna tattoo on her left hand before we went to the cafeteria for our lunch. After our lunch, we visited the Owl Museum. The Owl Museum showcases the largest collection of owl-themed arts and craft collections in ASEAN. It displays its own collection as well as borrowed collections from four renowned collectors in this region. Emeryn did her coloring there as they have a small corner for the kids. After snapping some photo, we took a 30mins walk towards the Monkey Cup Garden. It was written as only 10minutes walk on the sign board so we opted for a walk instead of taking the expensive cabby ride. Poor Emeryn has to stopped few times to rest her sore legs. Upon reaching the entrance, we were told that the entry to the garden is chargeable so we decided not to proceed. We took another 30mins walk back to the place we started off. Again Emeryn never failed to complain all along the way.

Upon reaching the area near the cafeteria, we headed to the playground where Emeryn played awhile before we left. On our way to the cable car station, Emeryn demanded to try out the binocular where we get to enjoy the view of Penang for 2 minutes by inserting RM1. The waiting time for the cable car to go down was so much longer. Emeryn choose to sit by herself inside the train. We walked towards to the car as soon as we reached the downhill and Emeryn snapped some photo of mummy. At age 6, she could handles mummy's bulky camera pretty well. A photographer in progress??? We went to Por Por's house for our usual dinner right after that.
