Theng Ee Ee's Wedding

the wedding tea ceremony

 @ the dinner

Last weekend we kept ourselves occupied with Theng Ee Ee's wedding. On Sat morning, mummy dropped Emeryn at Por Por's place as she went for her team building session, Break The Code at Belissa Row. After mummy is done with her team building, she sent Emeryn to her Art Class before heading to the Chinese sinseh. Mummy had some minor numbness on her toe after the Mummy & Me catwalk session a  week ago.

We went home after Art Class and get ready to head over to Theng Ee Ee's rented place for her wedding day. We had a families & friends gathering there, spoil with yummy food. We went home after 12am when Ee Ee was done with the hair-combing ceremony and some prayers which has to be done on the wedding eve. This has been a long tradition that is believed to bring long and lasting marriage, where the red string signifies blessing which is used to tie the bride’s hair and the ruler is used to remind couples to cherish their relationship and take good care of the family. Finally, tang yuen (glutinous rice ball) will be served to the Bride and Groom as a mean for sweetness and stick forever.

We woke up early the next morning and went over to the rented house for the wedding occasion. As the traditional Chinese customary wedding continues, we were all entertained by the wedding door games on the groom's heng tai (groomsmen) by the ji mui (bridesmaids). On the wedding day, the groom and his groomsmen arrive at the bride’s home and go through a mock bargaining session for her with her bridesmaids. The groom and his groomsmen are often made to do funny embarrassing things before the bridesmaids release the bride to him. After all the games ended, the groom gave red packets to the bridesmaids before he is allowed to enter the room to get his bride. Next was the tea ceremony before going over to the groom's side. Of course we took a huge family photo before the ceremony adjourned.

Mummy went for the Gelugor by-election after that before we head home. We had a quick rest before going over to the hair salon to style our hair for the wedding dinner. Before driving to StoneBay restaurant, mummy picked Ah Kong's friend. Again we helped out during the dinner with mummy busy snapping photo. It was definitely a long day for all of us on that BIG day. We dropped Carmen Ee Ee, Sherine Ee Ee and Ah Kong's friend at the rented house after the dinner. We could still managed to catch the last set of game of the Thomas Cup at the rented place. We went home with huge disappointment. Nevertheless the players had played their best.
The reason behind the games is so to prove that the Tze-Mui’s are not prepared to let their good friend go so easily and to also show the grooms love for his bride! - See more at: http://www.carmenweddings.co.uk/blog/double-happiness-chinese-weddings-blog/super-fun-chinese-wedding-door-games#sthash.vjxAeIqd.dpuf

Mummy & Me Glamour Pageant by Queensbay Mall

the photo shoot

the contest day

Mummy received a call from the management of Queensbay Mall last week notifying us that we were shortlisted as one of the 15 finalist to make it to the Mummy & Me Glamour Pageant. We were requested to attend the rehearsal and outfit testing on Fri evening. We went there after Emeryn's school ended. After the outfit trying, mummy decided to quit the pageant as she don't like the pre-selected costume. The contestants are not allowed to change the costume fixed by Espirit, the sponsor of the event. Nevertheless, the QBM Management promised mummy for a change of the costume and then we proceeded with the rehearsal. After the rehearsal, again we were told that the costume change is not allowed. So mummy told the management that we won't be joining. Emeryn cried and got very upset knowing mummy's decision. We headed for our late dinner at Old Town before going home. The lady from QBM called mummy and asked mummy to go back to Espirit to select her desire costume. We decided to do so the next day, on the day of the event itself.

At home, we had a quick cat walk practice before going to bed. The next day, Sat we reached QBM around 11.15am and mummy started with her hairdo, followed by the make up. The whole process took at least 45mins before mummy brought Emeryn to one of the hair saloon for her hairdo. Her hairdo costs RM45. Next we headed back to Espirit, thinking we could have an attire change as promised. Disappointingly there is only ONE more choice for mummy, if she refuses the pre-fixed costume. And that particular ONE choice is even worst than the first one (a very personal thought). We were left with no choice but to remain with the pre-fixed selection. Mummy would have not proceed if it's not for Emeryn's wish.

The event started at 2pm with all the glamorous cat walk paraded by the mummies. The first round involved only the mummies and the second round involved mummies and their kids. There was a Q&A session as well. We went home empty handed but all the finalist were given RM400 worth of gift/vouchers each. We will only redeem the said gift the following week. Before going home, we had our late lunch at Winter Warmers. Nevertheless it was a fun experience parading on the stage. Mummy had a sore feet wearing her high heels walking around. We went home for a rest before going over to Por Por's house later.

Goat Farm & Countryside Stables

 @ Saanen Goat Farm

@ Countryside Stables

Last Tues, it was the Wesak Day holiday. Aunty Jenny planned for a day outing to Balik Pulau and it was an ad-hoc plan. Aunty Jenny and her family drove in 2 cars while mummy picked Aunty Su Ching and YY along. We meet up at 9.30am and headed to the Saanen Goat Farm as out first destination. After few wrong GPS signals, we finally reached the goat farm at about 10.30am. Many kids nowadays are living in the virtual world behind the screen. Most of them have isolated themselves with the mother nature and so we decided to have a close encounter with the goats.

We were given a stalks of grass to feed the goats and even play with the goats. Of course Emeryn distanced herself from the goats as she was scare of them biting her. After the feeding, the owner, Mr Ho explained and showed us the milking process. Emeryn requested for a goat milk before leaving and mummy paid RM7 for a bottle of goat milk. She seems to enjoy every single sip of it. Not far from the goat farm, we made a pit stop at the vegetable farm. It wasn't FOC and it's RM60 per tour for a group of us. We decided to give it a pass due to the fee and also the hot burning day. We then drove to the town and had our early lunch at the food court. After lunch, the kids played at the playground before we continued with our second highlights of the day.

The Countryside Stables will only be open at 2pm and we had plenty of time to kill before that. We drove around the small town and dropped by at the starting point heading to the Hakka Village. To reach to the peak of the Hakka Village, it would takes about 30mins. We gave it a pass as well and then headed back to the Countryside Stables. We were the first customer there. Before going in, we paid for the entrance fee RM5 for adult, and RM3 for kid. We visited the stables one by one before Emeryn requested for a pony ride. Mummy suggested Emeryn to ride on a horse instead of a pony and after much persuasion, we finally gave in. Before the horse ride, we have the chance to snap some photo with a lovely white pony. We paid RM17 for the horse ride of 3 rounds. After the ride, the kids fed the pony with some carrots purchased at the counter. Emeryn had an ice cream before we left. It was an enjoying day trip though we were exhausted. We reached home at about 4.30pm and bought some food home. After a short rest, Emeryn went to her BM tuition as usual.

As for Emeryn's assessment at Adventist, daddy brought her there on Mon while mummy brought her on Thurs. Her last assessment would be next week.

Exam Madness & Happy Mother's Day

@ KFC

@ Brew 32

@ QBM for Mother's Day

The exam madness was finally over after the four dragged days. For the whole week, we revised crazily the very last minutes till late nights. Poor baby. Mummy even allowed Emeryn to skipped her BM tuition on Tues to give way for her revision. A week before, Emeryn has started to invite her classmate to her birthday party, which mummy has yet to promise her anything. She took the lead to invite her friends even we have not book the venue. She told them it would be held at KFC, Green Lane on 8th July around dinner time. Her classmates even confirmed on their attendance. She has been bugging mummy to prepare her birthday invitation cards. As soon as the exam was over, it was time to rejoice and unwind irregardless of the result. On Thurs, we headed to KFC at Batu Lanchang for dinner and to inquire further about the birthday party package.

Sat was a schooling day to replace for the upcoming Raya break. School starts at 12.30pm - 3.50pm. While Emeryn was at school, mummy went hunting for a new daycare center. Mummy found one potentially good daycare at Hargreaves Road, less than 1km away from Emeryn's school. After school ended, mummy brought Emeryn over to the center for a short visit. We then headed home and get ready for our so-called Mother's Day dinner. We had our dinner at Sri Sawadeee along with Toki Ee Ee who flew back from Singapore, Carmen Ee Ee and Sherine Ee Ee who drove back from KL for the celebration. After the scrumptious meal, we headed for coffee and chit chat session at Brew 32 located at Green Hall. It was a very cozy place for hang out. We ended our night at about 11pm.

The next day, Sun was the exact day for Mother's Day. At 11am, mummy brought Emeryn to Adventist as Jia Yee needed to do an online 30mins assessment for her. Also, we just got to know about the free photo shoot organized by Queensbay Mall in conjunction of Mother's Day. After the hospital visit, we picked Ah Kong and Por Por on our way to QBM. We had lunch at Porridge Time, Emeryn's favorite before queuing up for the photo shoot. It includes simple make over for mummy, with any purchase of RM50 and above in a single receipt. After the photo shoot, Toki Ee Ee joined us for shopping. We shopped for Ah Kong's attire to be worn for Theng Ee Ee's wedding. After the shopping, we had our tea break along with Sherine Ee Ee and her family at Old Town before leaving QBM. We went home for a short rest before coming out for our very own Mother's Day dinner with Theng Ee Ee, Toki Ee Ee, Por Por and Ah Kong.

Happy Labour Day

board game

 mummy's poor handwriting

After mummy came back from Langkawi on Mon, again she left for KL on Thurs, Labour Day. Mummy left around noon on Thurs right after Beena Kor Kor picked Emeryn from our place. Emeryn spent the whole afternoon with Beena Kor Kor before she dropped Emeryn to Por Por's place in the evening. Emeryn stayed a nite with Ah Kong and Por Por. Por Por helped Emeryn with her Chinese revision as exam is just on the following week. The next morning, Ah Kong sent Emeryn to daycare and fetched her after school. After getting her shower, Beena Kor Kor came and brought Emeryn over to her place. Emeryn stayed at Kor Kor's place on Fri nite. Kor Kor sent Emeryn to Art Class on Sat and dropped her home at about 8pm on Sat after mummy came home. Being away just for 2 nites, mummy has to planned properly for Emeryn, arranging her transport, school work and making sure her daily routine does not get interrupted.

Mummy bought a set of 15 all-in-one board games for Emeryn from KL. We had a game of her choice before the revision kicks in. We had a quick revision before our bed time. The next morning we went out for breakfast and bumped into Aunty Mei. After the breakfast we went home and continued with revision. In between revision, mummy allows 30mins tv time before revising again. We played the board game as well. After losing two rounds of Chinese checkers, lil' cheeky decided to swap our sitting arrangement and yet she lost. There goes the fight!!! We went over to Por Por's house for late lunch. It was a quick visit as we rushed home to continue with the revision again. Mummy asked Por Por's help to translate the Mandarin workbook for her and mummy continues to struggle with the Mandarin revision with Emeryn. Even with very limited knowledges and resources, mummy tried her best to do the Mandarin revision. The saying of "The banana leading the blind."
