Good-Bye My Dear Ah Chor

We visited ah chor at the hospital after our dinner on Mon evening. She talked to us like normal. We did not manage to pay ah chor a visit on Tues as we attended music class. Again we paid her a visit on Wed evening. She was sleeping soundly when we arrived. We tried waking her up but to no evil. She opened her eyes and looked at us and continued her sleep. She looked really weak and obviously tired. Under normal circumstances, ah chor will keep herself awake knowing her favourite girl, Emeryn was there. But this time, she choose to sleep.

Bad news started pouring in on Thurs afternoon after mummy received a call from daddy. Ah chor was having terrible breathing difficulties. Mummy rushed to the hospital immediately upon receiving daddy's call and picked Emeryn from the nursery. When we reached the ward, ah chor's bed was empty and she was placed next to the nursing care. She was attached to the oxygen and half conscious. She can't talk and barely open her eyes and make any movement. Oh my!!! Tears running down uncontrollably. We held her hands and tried calling her. At that moment, she could still gave us a tiny response. Some relative made their ways to the hospital hoping to see ah chor for the last time. Her left hand was terribly swollen and her skin on chin dropped tremendously. She looked so pale and weak. All of us stood there helplessly.

Ah Chor was allowed to go home after her pulses were stabilized. She was sent home via ambulance and she needed the assistance of the oxygen at home. Upon reaching home, she looked a lot more better. She could move her hands and legs a little and gave us more body language compare to when she was in the hospital. Granny made her coffee and gave her a puff on her ciggy. We tried fulfilling her the very best way we could and make her a contented lady before leaving us. She touched her hair, giving us the indication she needed a shave on her hair. We had her changed into her new clothing, wipe her, fed her and make her the most beautiful lady for the day. She could even drew a smile over her face. Many relatives make their ways to visit ah chor. Everyone of us tried cherishing the very last moment with her.

At about 12.30am, mummy heard some noise downstairs and she rushed down. Many of them surrounded her and kept on calling her. One by one, we squatted next to her and held her hand. Her breathing became weak and weaker the very next minutes. Mummy stood next to her and held her hands. Mummy fed her with some drinking water but she refused to consume it. Ah chor tried to talk but no words were utter from her mouth. Poor thing. Slowly her breath stopped and all of us called out for her. The next moment we realized ah chor has left us, yes left us forever. She was pronounced dead at 12.45am. Her face turned green right after she blew her last breath. She leave behind a wonderful family she once built. She was one tough lady who waited for everyone to arrived before she called off her life. She was 92. The date 14th May 2010 marked a sad date for all of us. Though she had lived a wonderful life yet we still can't accept the fact that she was gone, gone for good.

The next morning, we prepared for the wake and still mourning for the loss of a wonderful lady, the pillar to the family. Ah chor, you will always be in our heart and we will always love you.

"She crossed my life and touched my heart. She showed me the real meaning of unconditional love. She loved me & Emeryn more than her own grandchild. Thank you for loving us. May you rest in peace, granny-in-law."
