Finally our year end holiday starts with our kampung style staycation at the Sahom Retreat Farm at Gopeng. Mummy took 2 days leave on Mon & Tues to avoid the weekend crowds. Other than both mummy and Emeryn, mummy’s friend tagged along. We started our journey at about 8am. Our first stop was Nam Heong Kopitiam. Unfortunately mummy has selected the wrong place on Waze and we ended up at a commercialized Nam Heong Kopitiam; instead of its original set up at the Ipoh Old Town. As we were too hungry to drive further, we had our meal there.

After filling our tummies, we stopped at the Qing Xin Ling Leisure & Cultural Village. It was a beautiful place surrounded with natural limestones and a lake. It was also echoed as the Mini Guilin for its breath taking scenery. It was as though we were transported back to the olden years where we witnessed many items we haven’t seen in real life. We took a quick one round of the free bicycle ride before heading to our main destination, Sahom.

We checked in to Sahom at about 2pm. To our disappointment, there is no fishing equipment available. Thus, the fishing plan was cancelled. We had a shared meal before checking up our chalet at Kampung Buluh. It was equipped with simple and basic necessities with two single mattresses on the floor and a semi open (roofless) bathroom. It doesn’t takes us long to get ourselves comfortable in the small hut. The chalet also has a nice veranda overseeing a running stream. We then drove around the kampong area to check out other chalets, walked to the river and dipped our feet into the cold running water and also catching fish with our small fishing net at the stream. When it started to drizzle, we drove back to the chalet to a rest before having our dinner at about 8pm. Since it was a kampong staycation, we ended our nite early.

The next morning, we had our breakfast at the same cafeteria which offers the same menu. The menu has limited choices but it doesn’t stop us from having a meal. After breakfast Emeryn played badminton in front of our chalet before we check out at 12pm. The whole kampong experience was surrounding ourselves with the rhythm of crickets, having cold shower, playing by the riverside, fish catching, sleeping on thin mattress and buzzing mosquito with just a blowing fan. It was indeed fun to escape from a busy town to a refreshing retreat like this.

After checking out, we headed to Ipoh again for lunch. We went to Big Tree Food Garden to try its famous yong tau fu. After lunch, we headed to Seng Kee Heong Peah at Gunung Rapat and bought the famous heong peah and other makan stuff. It is located at the vicinity of a residential area and using traditional method of baking. Mummy still doesn't give up in locating the original Nam Heong Kopitiam as she really wanted to go the chinese medical shop next to it to buy her tea. After navigating to the correct destination using Waze, we finally found it. Mummy happily stocked up her tea and walked across to Sin Yoon Loong kopitiam to buy their famous white coffee. After buying everything, we started our journey home and finally reached home by 6pm.
Emeryn was still feeling a bit unwell on Thurs, having blocked nose every morning. So mummy brought her to Klinik 1 Malaysia after work. We are definitely impressed with the whole process including registration, consultation and prescription all done in just 10-15mins. We are still in time to catch Emeryn's favorite local series at 7pm.

On Fri, Emeryn went for a movie date with daddy. Daddy picked her at about 1.30pm from daycare and headed to Queensbay. They both watched Peanuts (Charlie Brown and Friends) at 2.20pm. After the movie, daddy allowed Emeryn to play at the amusement park before dropping Emeryn at mummy's office. Emeryn waited for about 25mins at the hotel lobby before following Aunty Jenny home. After clocking out from work at 6pm, mummy went over to Aunty Jenny's house to pick Emeryn home.

On Sat, we went out for our late lunch and bought some essential baking stuff before baking at home. This round mummy made Emeryn helped on the baking and we baked Milo muffin. Emeryn loves the muffin and had 2 pieces right after the baking. We didn't go out for dinner as we have bought dinner home when we were out for lunch.

The next morning, we had the muffin for breakfast before going out for lunch. We bumped into mummy's cousin and his family during lunch. After lunch, we headed to Children Protection Society as we wanted to donate some of Emeryn's story books which she has outgrown them. We had a quick tour at the building to understand further. After visiting the place, Emeryn wanted to go to the library. We spent about an hour there before heading to Por Por's house for our usual visit and dinner.

Update from FB: The highlight of the day isn’t about her movie with daddy but its about how happy she was when she finally got herself a toy from the toy crane vending machine at the amusement park.
