Mummy took a day off on Fri and we headed to Taiping along with "Uncle Uncle". He was going back to his hometown, so mummy took the opportunity to make a trip to Taiping as well. He was our local guide there showing us around. Mummy offered to drive and we started our journey at 8.30am. It took us an hour to reach Taiping. After doing some research on Taiping, mummy wanted to try the food at Restaurant Kakak. We ordered the koay teow soup and dry koay teow, and not forgetting the infamous Kakak Peng which serves as combination of barley and nescafe. It definitely worth a try.

After our fulfilling breakfast we headed to the Taiping Lake. Our first stop was the lake side where we snapped some nice photo with the angsana trees and the scenic view of the lake. We then stopped at the park where mummy took Emeryn for her cycling lesson. after few tries, she still failed to cycle on her own. Out of frustration, mummy walked back to the car to get the training wheel leaving Emeryn with Uncle Uncle there. While walking towards the park with the training wheel on her hand, mummy saw Emeryn cycling on her own. Woo hoo!!! Finally she can cycles and of course the credit goes to Uncle Uncle who patiently taught her. Emeryn commented "He is a good teacher because he don't scold and beat me while teaching me how to cycle". Mummy felt ashamed with her comment. We spent another hour there making Emeryn familiarize with her new skills, even though we sweat terribly. Mummy also took some video of Emeryn while she cycles.

Next we headed to Tune Hotel and checked in. Uncle Uncle left while mummy and Emeryn had a good rest and a shower before heading out for our late lunch. We had our lunch at the Larut Matang Food Court and tried the specialty there, fried dry koay teow. After our lunch we drove around the small town and mummy bought some biscuit. Eventually Emeryn fell asleep in the car. Running out of places to go, we decided to give Kuala Sepetang a shot. It is only 12km from Taiping. We finally reached the jetty after getting direction from the locals. We took some name cards back for our next trip to Kuala Sepetang. Then we headed back to the hotel.

We went out for dinner at about 7.30pm and tried a new food. It was a combination of laksa and curry mee and surprisingly the taste blends very well. Then Uncle Uncle dropped us at the Night Safari after helping us to purchase the discounted entrance ticket using his local id card. It was our first time visiting Night Safari and mummy don't think it worth a visit during the night time. We hardly see any animal given the limited lighting there. Another concern was the safety where only the two of us walking in the dark surrounded by the bushes. We walked for almost an hour, covering 70% of the whole area before boarded a train to tour the area. In total it took us 2 hours to finish exploring the night safari before Uncle Uncle dropped us back to the hotel. Emeryn ended her night near to mid-nite as she insisted watching the tv programme before her bed time.

The next morning, we woke up at 8.30am and went out for breakfast after getting ready. We drove around town after our breakfast before checking out at 11am. We then head over to Sentosa Villa, suppose to be a private property and walked in as though we are the guest there. Emeryn loves the villa surrounded by lush greenery and mother nature. It was a perfect lay back holiday. There are few small streams that run through the resort, a breeding place for arowana and other fishes. Ducks, turkeys and hens were also seen running freely at the nature path. Emeryn took off her slippers and set her foot into the streams, joining the rest of the guests there. After spending a short time there, we drove to Maxwell Hill and Burmese Pool without going into it.

Our final destination was to hunt for the famous mee udang at Mak Jah Restaurant @ Kuala Sepetang. We made our journey there and savored the much awaited meal. After filling up our tummies, we drove home.

School Holiday Diary Day 6-12

 Day 6

birthday invites

 Day 8

 Day 12

On last Mon, mummy officially enrolled Emeryn to the new daycare. During the lunch break, mummy went over to check on lil' cheeky and was glad to know that she was happy there. In the evening, we went to Nyonya House @ Steward Lane for dinner along with Ah Kong & Por Por using the groupon voucher which mummy purchased earlier. This place serves authentic Peranakan Nyonya cuisine. Nyonya House is filled with tasteful Peranakan artifacts, furniture and lighted beautifully. The decor reflects the heritage and faith of the Peranakan people.

On Tues evening, Emeryn attended BM tuition despite the school holiday. It was the Air Asia zero fare promotion again and of course mummy would not let go the chance to grab some cheap tickets.  Yay, mummy booked another holiday for next year. It was Ah Kong's wish list and to Bangkok we shall conquer next year July. Moving on, perhaps mummy could only afford one holiday per year, not two, not three because there's a new burden awaits; our new paradise. Instead of memorizing the times tables, lil' cheeky is memorizing her excuse spiel. She even practices her excuse to be given to the daycare teacher on why she can't complete the times tables and lastly had a role play with mummy. How smart!!! The teacher wants her to memorize her times tables.

Emeryn's birthday is just around the corner and mummy has not book the venue yet. We headed to KFC @ GreenLane on Wed evening, hoping to book Emeryn's birthday party. To our disappointment, the place was fully booked. KFC @ Batu Lanchang is out of our consideration as their air-condition is still yet to be fixed. Emeryn cried knowing it was fully booked. Nevertheless we had our dinner at KFC before driving over to McD @ Persiaran Karpal Singh to inquire for her birthday party. Again we were slammed with negative respond as they do not host birthday party there. Panicking, mummy drove to McD @ GreenLane which will be our last resort as mummy wanted the venue to be nearer to her school, so that her classmate would not have problem attending. Finally we found the availability there for 28th June and immediately mummy paid for the deposit. What a relief!!! Lesson well learn here, do not practice last minutes arrangement to avoid disappointment. We took home 25 pieces of invitation card from McD after paying for the deposit.

We headed home after daycare on Thurs as we needed to pack for our road trip. We will be heading to Taiping for a 2days 1 nite stay there.

On Sun, we dated Hui Ying & Hui Siang to Mega Kiddies, QBM where they played from 12pm up to 5.30pm. In between we had lunch at Winter Warmers. After the play date, we went over to Por Por's house for our usual visit and had dinner there before going home.

School Holiday Diary Day 1-5

Day 1 @ De Moonlight Cafe

Day 2 - cycling & playing scooter

 Day 3 - rainy day

Day 4 - heritage tour on two wheels

Day 5 - Movie Day & Meet Barbie & Ken

This time around the school holidays starts on Wed, something unusual. Emeryn attended daycare at Edu Excel for full day. On Wed, mummy sent Emeryn to a new daycare for a trial. Mummy has plan to change her to a new daycare which provide full tuition. Emeryn looked sad when mummy left and held tight onto mummy's hand before mummy bid farewell. She was about to cry but still managed to keep her chin high up. The separation anxiety struck both mummy and her lil' cheeky. It was the same feeling when mummy first sent Emeryn to school. Despite Emeryn is now 8 years old, mummy still feel the same. That perfectly describe the phase "A daughter is always a baby to her mom." Mummy picked her after work and found out Emeryn has happily settled down. The kids are calling her name as she was playing at the garden. When she got into the car, she said "Why you come so early? Can you come and pick me much later tomorrow?" Obviously she was having tonne of fun there. For dinner we headed to downtown as mummy wanted to redeem the voucher she bought earlier. We went to De Moonlight Cafe and ordered iced chocolate drinks, egg & cheese sandwich and tiramisu. After our meal, we went home.

While on the Day 2 of school holiday, mummy brought Emeryn to Karpal Singh's Drive. Mummy wanted Emeryn to learn cycling. After an hour of cycling, Emeryn still can't handle the machine on her own without the training wheels. As the skies fall dark, we ended the cycling session and head over to McD for our late dinner. The McD was newly opened and instantly mummy fell in love with this place. It has an alfresco area, overseeing the sea. Even at the first floor, it has an alfresco area too but the play station was a bit too small. After our meal, Emeryn played on her scooter before we head home.

We did not manage to go anyway on Day 3 as it was a rainy day. We bought dinner home and mummy allowed Emeryn to buy a dvd. She selected Sofia the First. After finish watching her new movie, we sat together and did some activity on her Princess Magazine before her bedtime.

On Sat morning we woke up early and mummy was still very eager to explore Penang Heritage area with two wheels. It was one of the thing which mummy wanted to do for long and finally she made it. We drove to downtown at about 9am and headed straight to Armenian Street. We picked the first bicycle rental shop and paid RM10 for 4 hours rental. We were given a pink bike, match perfectly with Emeryn's attire. We started our heritage exploration at 9.30am as we hunt for the wire arts. It was a super hot day and we were badly showered under the burning sun. After an hour or so, we made a pitt stop at Kantan Cafe for breakfast. After our breakfast we continued with our exploration until 12.30pm. Emeryn got very exhausted and asked to go home instead. On our way home, Emeryn requested for a cup of mango smoothies. We took an hour rest at home before mummy sent Emeryn to her Art Class. After her class, we spent the evening at home.

On Sun, we went for movie, Maleficent at 11.50am. We are just in time right after the movie to snap photo with Barbie in a Box. Basically it was just a box with some simple decoration where the kids can go inside to snap a photo with the props ready for them. We then were given a complimentary 4R photo from the photo session. Before lunch there was the greet and meet Barbie & Ken session. Emeryn had a chance to snap a personal photo with Barbie & Ken. Again Emeryn requested to patron the Porridge Time for her lunch. We then walked around and check out the comforter set. We finally decided on a set of Barbie comforter for Emeryn. This is meant for our new place, soon. With the purchase receipt, it entitled Emeryn to another free photo shoot. We were very lucky on that particular day as Emeryn were given a complimentary entry to the Tea Party with Barbie & Ken. Initially we need to present a RM200 worth of receipt to gain entry to this tea party. Mummy waited while Emeryn joined the tea party. After spending at least 5hours at Queensbay Mall, we went home for a rest before going out again. In the evening mummy went for coffee at COffee Element @ All Seasons Place with her friends. Of course Emeryn tagged along. We ended the long day at about 10pm.
