New Shoe, finally

We came back from Melbourne on 5th Nov, which in conjunction with Deepavali as well. Emeryn slept at around 12am upon reaching home while mummy called it a day at around 2am. Surprisingly mummy woke up at 9am or so, perhaps jetlag. Emeryn woke up early too on Sat morning and opt to watch her fav movie, Barbie. While watching it, she saw the Barbie dancing with the prince and she then exclaimed:

"Mummy, i want you to "dancing" like this with daddy!"

Daddy fetched Emeryn to Pekaka at noon while mummy was at home, unpacked all luggage and do some laundry. We went over to Prai early evening for Ah Chor's prayer. It was Ah Chor's birthday where we offered some prayer and burnt a "big house" according to the chinese beliefs. The whole prayers took 4-5hours and we went over for a quick supper before heading home. Emeryn fell asleep in the car.

On Sun morning, we went out for breakfast at Island Park with ah kong, por por, Toki Ee Ee and her bf, Sherine Ee Ee and her mom. It was drizzling when we were about to leave. We headed home right after the breakie. We then meet them up at Queensbay for late lunch at T-Bowl Cafe. Ah kong fetched Toki Ee Ee and her bf to the airport immediately after lunch. Mummy and Emeryn proceeded for our heavy duty shopping. We spent at least 3.5hours shopping at QBM and mummy managed to get herself 7 tops and 2 pairs of shoe of Emeryn. Due to the late shopping we had, we did not managed to visit ah chor at old folks home. We went home after that.

(*** mummy accidentally deleted the photos at T-Bowl, so no photo updates)

Melbourne: Day 1

@ Penang Airport, departing with our luggage

@ McD, LCCT

Churchill Island

@ Koala Observation Centre

Penguin Parade

The countdown soon arrived when the clock struck 4.50pm the time when we boarded our flight from Penang to KL. Yay!!! Finally we are flying to Melbourne. We spent 5hours at LCCT while waiting for our flight to Melbourne. Despite the bad weather forecast in Penang, we successfully boarded the flight without interruption. After loitering around at McD, LCCT, we flew to Melbourne at 11pm. Emeryn fell asleep almost immediately upon getting to her seat. She slept soundly for the first two hours but ended having disturbed sleep on and off.

After enduring a 7.5hours flight, we landed at Melbourne International Airport at 10.10am local time. We went through the immigration and custom check smoothly. Upon getting out from the airport, we grabbed a skybus which transferred us to the Southern Cross Station. No hassle, only 10mins wait for the skybus and another 25mins sending us to the main station. We then took a free shuttle provided by skybus in which later transferred us to Greenhouse Backpacker, where we stayed. We took our own sweet time checking in to the room and dropped our luggage. We realized we were late for our day tour pick up, so we grabbed a taxi to Intercontinental Rialto Hotel. We missed our pick up as we were 15mins late. Luckily mummy called up the tour company and they got us heading to their office at Federation Square. Luck was on our side as we managed to catch the bus.

Our first day tour was Philip Island and its nature parks. It was a day completely filled with Australian wildlife, including being able to watch the very unique phenomenon of hundreds of little penguins come back from the sea at sunset to waddle over the beach to their nests on one of the island’s coasts. This day-tour suits anyone visiting Melbourne who is interested in seeing Australian animals in a more natural habitat.

The first place we arrived was called Churchill Island farm, built by a Scottish family who settled there. The farm was complete with chickens, ducks, peacocks, horses, sheep, working sheepdogs, Scottish ‘airy coos, and of course, wallabies. At Churchill, the daily farming activities includes cow milking, blacksmithing, sheep shearing, working dog demonstrations. We also have the chance to experience a traditional Aussie working farm and visited the adorable baby animals in the nursery. Daddy stopped by to purchase a strawberry shake as we did not managed to have our lunch. We visited the gift shop before leaving and Emeryn snapped lots of photo with the soft toys.

Our next stop was at the koala conservation center on Phillip Island. We walked around among the Eucalyptus trees and there were also areas with elevated boardwalks where we could get a little closer to the koalas in their natural habitat. Before leaving mummy bought a key chain as a souvenir for her own keepsake. Again daddy didn't missed the chance to purchase something to pamper his stomach.

Next stop, the nobbies, a beautiful spot on the coast of Phillip Island that is also home to a colony of seals. The seals actually live on a smaller island that you can see from the coast. It was too cold for all of us to take a stroll, thus we ended spending time at the cafeteria. We walked out to snapped a few quick photo before walking into the indoor play park where Emeryn enjoyed herself most. We ordered fish and chips as our dinner.

And finally, the grand finale to our tour: The Penguins Parade. Every night at sunset, hundreds of little penguins can be seen coming up on the beach back to their burrows to their babies and their significant others. They come at sunset to avoid being seen by predators. We sat down on bleachers and waited for the penguins to emerge. The first few were tentative, took a few steps but then freaked out and jumped back into the waves. They travel in groups as well to avoid predators in the water. However, group by group we watched them appear out of the waves and start making the trek across the beach, sand and cliffs to their homes. It started drizzling a moment after the penguins emerged, thus we decided to walk back to the tourist centre. On our way there, we spotted few groups of penguins walking back to their homes. We followed alongside them on the boardwalk. They were so adorable and Emeryn can't get her eyes off the penguins. She simply loves them.

We left Penguin Parade at about 9.15pm and reached Federation Square about 2 hours later. It took us about 10mins walking back to the backpacker's place. We went back for a quick shower before daddy brought us out for a quick meal at Mc Donalds. It was freezing cold as the average highest temperature was 14 celcius and min 8 celcius. We slept almost immediately upon going up to our room. We had a private twin room with 2 bunk beds.

Our Little Guest, Flo

fried rice for dinner

Last Mon was mummy first attempt of cooking fish porridge for Emeryn. Mummy was in the midst of learning to cook healthy dishes for Emeryn as she has neglected Emeryn's well being for sometimes back for feeding her with outside food. Mummy has to be very cautious while dealing with fish as she spotted some fish bones in the porridge. Even though it was mummy's first attempt, it turned out yummy as well. While on Tues, we went over to the curtain shop as mummy has decided to change a new set of curtain for the whole house. After choosing the material, the cost came out to be RM2ooo for the whole house. We dropped by at Theng's Ee Ee workplace as mummy needed to get some stuff from her. We headed straight for dinner after that.

Aunty Mei was busy with work that she couldn't fetch Flo from school on Wed. So mummy offered help to pick Flo along while fetching Emeryn home. Mummy decided to cook porridge and fry some mix vege for both princesses. While mummy was busy in the kitchen, Emeryn played with Flo in the living room. On and off, both of them had some small fight over the toys but they managed to be friend again after that. After dinner, both of them had yogurt before aunty Mei knocked on the door. Mummy and aunty Mei had their dinner at the stall next to our apartment.

On Sat, mummy went to Bukit Jambul Complex along with Emeryn and kakak for her last min shopping before our Melbourne trip. Kakak went back home with us as ah ma and ah kong were off to Hatyai for a short break. On Sun morning, we picked kakak back to our place and she helped out with the house chores. We went to ofh to visit ah chor before heading to por por's place for our usual visit.

Last week Florence started her 1 week free trial at Emeryn's nursery. Prior to attending to school on Monday, mummy kept on reminding Emeryn to take good care of Florence and show her the way around the school. According to Aunty Mei, Emeryn did a good job showing Flo around and making sure Flo follows instruction. Awww, that's mummy's girl. On Mon evening, mummy cooked pumpkin + carrot + potato porridge and mix vege for dinner. It was the healthy dinner that mummy always wished for and ended with orange and apple as dessert. Later at nite, we went out to Super Tanker for a quick supper as mummy was feeling hungry.

We had dinner with Aunty Mei and Flo at Pappa Rich on Tues. After our dinner, we went to Tesco for grocery shopping. Mummy dropped Emeryn at Pekaka on Wed while she was out to Mayfair for her treatment. Ah ma, kor kor and ah chor came over to our place on Thurs evening as kor kor wanted to borrow some dress and accessories from mummy for her friend's wedding. Mummy brought Emeryn to Red Chopsticks for a sumptuous dinner on Fri evening. After dinner we dropped by at Watson and mummy bought many skin care and health care products which cost her RM160 in just 30mins.

We woke up early on Sat morning. Mummy brought Emeryn to Campbell Street as Emeryn wanted to get a new school bag as the zip of her old school bag was torn. Mummy don't just got her a school bag but also a super nice Princess luggage bag since we are heading to Melbourne in a week time. After getting the bags, mummy sent Emeryn to Pekaka where she left to Mayfair for the second time in a week. Emeryn refused to go home with mummy after that as she got so carried away playing with Amanda at Pekaka. Mummy left and came back to fetch Emeryn later for dinner. We went out for dinner with Aunty Mei and Flo at Northam Beach. Ah ma, kor kor and Amanda joined us later. We went home straight after dinner.

Mummy brought Emeryn out for breakfast on Sun. After our breakfast, we headed down town as mummy needed to exchange Emeryn's school bag as there was a torn on the brand new bag. Apart from exchanging the school bag, mummy brought Emeryn a very high-tec cap which comes with an auto sensory fan which blows when detected the sun. We fetched kakak from Pekaka as mummy needed her to help with the house chores. With the help from kakak, mummy moved some of her room furniture and rearranged them. Mummy planned to have a new set of curtains for the living hall and the rooms. We went to por por's house for a quick dinner along with kakak. After our dinner, we dropped by at ah chor's place as mummy needed help with some wood work. Mummy accidentally broke the bed frame while moving it earlier. We then dropped kakak back to Pekaka and headed home for Emeryn's revision as she is having her exam on the next day. Mummy felt so bad for not being able to visit ah chor at ofh last week.

Happy 29th B'day, Mummy

barney cake for mummy from Emeryn

@ kfc on mummy's b'day eve

ice cream as her reward of finishing her homework

On Mon evening, daddy fetched us out for dinner right after his work. We had Thai cuisine at Bt Lanchang and daddy bumped into his friends at the restaurant. After dinner, we dropped by at KFC where Emeryn had her play time. On our way home, mummy bought 2 dvds for Emeryn; Dora and Barbie-sing-along. Emeryn insisted to watch the dvd upon reaching home. That particular nite, she slept late. The principal told mummy that Emeryn was shortlisted as an emcee for her school concert on Nov and now her class teacher is training her.

The next day, it was mummy's birthday. It was mummy's 29th B'day. Emeryn greeted mummy "Happy Birthday" the very first thing she did when she woke up. That was the sweetest and priceless gift for mummy. Mummy sent Emeryn to school while she took a day off from work. Mummy went to Gurney Plaza to indulged herself with a sweet surprises. Mummy picked Emeryn after school and headed to the cake house. Emeryn selected a small Barney cake for mummy. Upon reaching home, Emeryn can't wait any longer and wanted to celebrate mummy's birthday. We lighted the candle and both mummy and Emeryn sang the b'day song. That was a simple but of course a precious moment to mummy where she had her lil' precious to celebrate her b'day. Officially mummy has stopped Emeryn from music class as she thinks Emeryn is not ready to go further at this moment.

Emeryn tagged along with mummy to Pappa Rich on Wed evening for her monthly gathering where she treated her group a dinner. Mummy skipped her eye check up last week, thus she decided not to procrastinate further by going for her check up on Thurs morning. Mummy dropped her card for registration at around 8am and we left to Mc Donalds for breakfast. As usual Emeryn would enjoyed herself with the indoor play. We went back to LWE after 30mins and mummy's check up went on smoothly. We then went to school and work simultaneously.

Mummy brought kakak back with us on Fri and she stayed with us for a nite. Kakak took care of Emeryn while mummy went out for her so-called b'day celebration. The next morning mummy went to Mayfair for her appointment leaving Emeryn and kakak at home. Mummy brought back lunch after her appointment. This time around, Emeryn seemed so much comfortable with kakak around. Later in the evening, while on the way to the airport to fetch Toki Ee Ee and her bf, we dropped kakak to work. We headed to old folks home to visit ah chor. Mummy's aunty and cousin sis also came back to Penang. All of us gathered at old folks home before deciding to bring ah chor out for dinner.

On Sun morning, mummy brought Emeryn out for breakfast and we fetched kakak from work after our breakfast. We spent out whole Sun at home, lazing around and with Emeryn finishing her school homework. Again mummy needed to drop kakak to work at 6pm. Later in the evening we went to Super Tanker for dinner along with ah kong, por por, Toki Ee Ee and her bf. Ee ee and her bf left to Singapore after the dinner.

Burger King, the 1st outlet in Penang

@ Burger King

On Sun mummy had her gathering with aunty Mei and some friend at Burger King. It was newly opened few days back. Flo was there as well. Both of them did cycling after the meal at the walkway of the shop lots.
