Raya Break

Sam Poh Tong

Kwan Yin Tong

@ Kellie's Castle

Last weekend was Raya holiday, consists of 4days break. We decided to have a short break at Ipoh and explore the hot spring at Felda Residence. It was the Mah's family outing. We started our journey on Sun 7.30am. We meet Carmen Ee Ee and Sherine Ee Ee at the bridge's toll and thereafter started our journey. We finally reached mummy's aunt, Ah Ku's house at about 9.30am and started to unload some of our luggage before heading out for breakfast in two cars. We visited the common hawker's place for a quick breakfast before visiting Sam Poh Tong. It was more than 15years since mummy last visited the place. We snapped some photo over there and venture parts of the surrounding area before going over to Kwan Yin Tung. It was filled with Kwan Yin's statues and again we did not missed the chance to shoot. The Mah's family love taking photo and yes, a lot of it.

We then drove to the town and had the infamous ice kacang to quench our thirst after being burned under the hot sun before driving towards Tar College's area for our late lunch. We had pan mee recommended by Onn Zai. It was already 3pm when we were about to start our journey to Sungkai. The weather wasn't kind enough throughout our journey. It was a heavy pour but it does not stopped us from heading to our main destination of the trip. We reached Felda Residence at about 4.15pm and quickly purchased our tickets. We were indeed lucky as the rain stopped almost as soon as we stepped into the park. We went to the cool pool with slides, followed by the foot reflexology before mummy took out the eggs she brought from home. There was an area where we were allowed to cook the eggs and amazingly we managed to have it hard boiled. We then proceeded to the hot pool, where the water is warm enough for us to be relaxingly soaked. It was about 8pm when we finally decided to make a move after cleaning up ourselves. We left the hot spring and headed to Ipoh town hoping to enjoy the bean sprout chicken. We were rather unfortunate as it was already sold off, so we settled with Ipoh koay teow and some other specialty. We went back to Ah Ku's house and stayed over for a nite.

We woke up at about 8am the next morning and headed out for dim sum after everyone has gotten ready. Our initial plan was to have dim sum at Foh San but unfortunately the queue was too long to bear. We had our dim sum in another restaurant, the same stretch as Foh San. We went to shop for local biscuit after the breakfast and Emeryn requested mummy to buy her mooncake. We bought 2 pieces of mooncake and then we drove over to Kellie's Castle. It's a must visit place at Ipoh. We then headed to Eco Park before going back to Ah Ku's house. Again it was pouring heavily and we have no choice but to wait until the rain stopped. We went over to Ipoh town to have the bean sprout chicken which we failed to get it last night. We were lucky that it was still available although it was a long wait, worth while anyway. We headed home as soon as we're done with the meal. The traffic was quite bad at the beginning and started to ease after an hour of driving. We finally reached home at about 10.15pm after sending Ah Kong and Por Por home.

An Afternoon with Daddy

my gusty baby

nude swimming in the park

Last weekend, finally daddy managed to find time for us. Mummy and Emeryn had breakfast at Super Tanker at about 11am before meeting daddy at our place. We headed to the Botanical Garden equipped with Emeryn's bicycle and fishing necessities. As soon as we stepped into the entrance, we were denied entry as the management disallow the public to cycle around the park. Reluctantly we left while Emeryn keep insisting of going inside as she wanted to fish. So we drove to Youth Park where Emeryn cycled towards the pool. As soon as we approached the pool, Emeryn search for a place to fish but unfortunately there are none. She then decided to go for a swim even though we didn't bring along her swim suit. She was perfectly ok to swim nakedly, only with her panty. After a quick swim, mummy instructed her to stop swimming and we proceeded to the playground. Mummy's lil' gusty baby climbed up the equipment at the playground without fear, up to the top. But she failed to come down on her own, so she called for daddy's help. We went home after that for an afternoon nap.

Later in the evening, daddy drove us out for dinner at the infamous under the big tree restaurant, opp jetty. We went to Chew Thean Yang Aquarium after our dinner as Emeryn requested mummy to buy her some fishes since we did not managed to fish any at the Botanical Garden. Emeryn's attention swayed away to the lil' puppies as soon as she fell in love with one particular puppy. She insisted of bringing the puppy home and cried when mummy rejected her request. She went home upset but giving herself an option by asking mummy to buy her a puppy is she scores all A's in her Standard 1 exam next year. Haha.

Post Cafe

@ Post Cafe

ice-cream!!!

home-cooked

home-baked from Uncle Charles

Mummy requested Por Por to get some ingredient for winter melon soup where she cooked them on Mon for dinner. It's time for mummy to seriously cook some home-cooked meal for Emeryn rather than patronizing the hawkers too often. The haze came back again and the weather turned bad. So mummy decided to boil some herbal tea for lil' cheeky and her bestie, Flo. Both of them love it so much.

Last Fri mummy did not go out with her usual hang out gang and had dinner with Emeryn after picking her from daycare. Mummy rewarded Emeryn with 8pcs of dvds of Emeryn's selection and she watched 3 of it the same nite. Emeryn attended Art Class as usual on Sat morning and Uncle Charles brought us 3pcs of his home-baked cheese cake while Emeryn was away at the class. We brought home lunch and spent the whole afternoon at home since it was a rainy day. Earlier we thought of going out for a street photography but we have to cancelled it.
Before heading for dinner, we dropped by at Maxim's and bought a scoop of gelato ice cream for Emeryn. We went to Post Cafe for dinner, our very 1st time there. The prices were surprisingly much cheaper than expected. Nothing too fancy about this cafe, anyway. Mummy reminded Emeryn about her classmate's birthday party at Mc Donalds and Emeryn insisted of dropping by. She did not get the invitation but insisted of going. All of them had adjourned when we reached, knowing the party started early in the evening. Obviously lil' cheeky was disappointed for not seeing anyone familiar there and we left.

The next morning we had our breakfast at home before going over to Por Por's place at 2.30pm for our late lunch. After lunch, mummy had a discussion with Stan over Ah Kong's insurance policy. We left after the discussion and drove around down town searching for those wire arts. Emeryn is not in the mood for some photo shoot, so we decided to look up for it until the day she is ready for it. We headed home after almost an hour driving around. Emeryn had her dinner at home where she brought back Por Por's home-cooked meal before going over to Pekaka. She decided to stay over for a nite as Mon was a public holiday and mummy has to be at work. Beena Kor Kor picked Emeryn up at 10pm and then mummy drove out to get her late dinner.

Penang Hill

@ Gurney Paragon

@ Penang Hill

Emeryn put up a nite at Por Por's place on Fri nite as mummy planned to stay out late. Mummy picked Emeryn the next morning at 8.30am and we headed to Old Town @ Egate for breakfast. As soon as we were seated, Emeryn immediately grabbed the food menu and flipped through. She had home-cooked porridge at Por Por's place early in the morning, thus she did not order anything while at Old Town. She helped mummy with the order chit. Emeryn shared half of mummy's breakfast portion but refused to order anything earlier.

Mummy: I ordered them just now and you should order for yourself if you still want to eat.

Emeryn: Har, you must have forgotten that I was the one who wrote on the order chit.

After our quick breakfast, we left for Art Class while mummy went home for an hour nap before picking Emeryn after the class. We spent the rest of the afternoon at home and Emeryn took her nap in the afternoon. We headed out for dinner at about 6.30pm at GoodAll Cafe. We spotted a new bakery along the parking area and we went in to check it out. Emeryn asked for a 3-tier jelly and a Hello Kitty cake. Mummy brought her the jelly and promised to come back after dinner for the cake. Emeryn requested for char koay teow and she finished 80% of it while mummy had her favourite meal, tom yam noodle. We went back to the bakery after our meal as promised but to Emeryn's dismay, the cake she wanted was gone. She was upset and later compromised on selecting other cake. We went to Gurney Paragon and that was our 1st time there. We sat at the al-fresco area and enjoyed the live band. The kids enjoyed the lighted water sprouting from beneath the floor animated with colorful lighting. Before going home, Emeryn requested for a drink and we choose Pacific Coffee, also our first time trying it. We left at about 10pm but Emeryn refused to leave. We were stuck in a jam right outside of the exit from the car park.

The next morning we decided to explore the newly restored Penang Hill. The train was newly upgraded, completely concealed and air conditioned. It was more than 10years since mummy last visited Penang Hill while it was Emeryn's first time there. The return ticket for the cable car only cost us RM12 (1 adult and 1 child) using our MyKad. We felt a sense of coldness upon getting off the cable car at the peak but very soon the coldness dies off. Emeryn did a henna tattoo on her left hand before we went to the cafeteria for our lunch. After our lunch, we visited the Owl Museum. The Owl Museum showcases the largest collection of owl-themed arts and craft collections in ASEAN. It displays its own collection as well as borrowed collections from four renowned collectors in this region. Emeryn did her coloring there as they have a small corner for the kids. After snapping some photo, we took a 30mins walk towards the Monkey Cup Garden. It was written as only 10minutes walk on the sign board so we opted for a walk instead of taking the expensive cabby ride. Poor Emeryn has to stopped few times to rest her sore legs. Upon reaching the entrance, we were told that the entry to the garden is chargeable so we decided not to proceed. We took another 30mins walk back to the place we started off. Again Emeryn never failed to complain all along the way.

Upon reaching the area near the cafeteria, we headed to the playground where Emeryn played awhile before we left. On our way to the cable car station, Emeryn demanded to try out the binocular where we get to enjoy the view of Penang for 2 minutes by inserting RM1. The waiting time for the cable car to go down was so much longer. Emeryn choose to sit by herself inside the train. We walked towards to the car as soon as we reached the downhill and Emeryn snapped some photo of mummy. At age 6, she could handles mummy's bulky camera pretty well. A photographer in progress??? We went to Por Por's house for our usual dinner right after that.
